Since his early twenties, Neil has had a great interest in Eastern
Philosophy and Bodywork, particulary Yoga and Tai Chi, and draws
upon these essential disciplines when he works with students.
He strongly
believes that work on ourselves is a vital part of being able to
work on other people.
Massage was a normal part of his life with family and friends, and
in 1989 he discovered Shiatsu and became captivated by its depth and
richness.
This resonated with his desire to share with others, and he is now a
Practitioner of Shiatsu and a dedicated teacher with the Aberdeen
College of Shiatsu.
Neil brings to the college a broad experience of life.
He has travelled widely and worked in a wide spectrum of jobs
centred in community work.
Besides his Shiatsu practice and his work with the College, he
currently works part time as a
learning support teacher in the Aberdeen Waldorf School.
Neil has a great fondness for the practical aspects of Shiatsu and likes to combine theory and practice so that students gain a clear understanding of what he is explaining. In his teaching he encourages discussion and feedback which brings out the best in students. As one who found Shiatsu relatively late in life, Neil has a great sympathy for those for whom learning poses a challenge. He is constantly looking for ways to make the acquisition of knowledge as pleasant and rewarding as possible.
