Introductory workshop – Shiatsu for Headaches

On Saturday 17th June I (Martin Julich) will give an Introduction to Shiatsu with a focus on treating headaches at Love Yoga studio, 42 Union Terrace, Aberdeen, starting at 10am and finishing by 1pm, costing £30, payable to Laura Davison.

This workshop will be open to anyone and will introduce acupressure points that are useful for headaches as well as general approaches including which types of headaches relate to which meridian function and which foods might be best to avoid or eat.

Headaches is such a generic term for us, but in Oriental Medicine we understand that the location points to which organ/meridian function is implicated and thus better treatable. So if you suffer from them or know some friend who frequently does, this workshop will try and deliver the tools and understand to clear headaches effectively and in the long term avoid them!!

I remember the first time I helped someone with frontal headaches. Pressing the relevant point cleared the headache within two minutes and we both felt it.

Lets have a wonderful morning and treat each other well!!

Tara Shiatsu workshops

TARA Approach Courses 2017 in Aberdeen

Taught by Anneke Stolte MSc   MRSS

The TARA Approach uses gentle holding of points on the body (to the Extraordinary Meridians) to restore our capacity to cope with overwhelming experiences.

The TARA Approach has its roots in Jin Shin, a “sister” healing art of Shiatsu based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and the 5 Element system. Created by neuropsychologist Dr Stephanie Mines, the energy medicine component (Jin Shin) is integrated with an understanding of the physiological and neurological impacts of shock and trauma.  With the use of touch as well as language we restore health and release essence.

Workshop One –  Self Care with The TARA Approach: “Self Shiatsu” for stress and trauma This introductory course is for anyone who would like to learn how to balance the nervous system and restore its innate integrity after it has been overwhelmed or overloaded.

There are 26 points on the body that are particularly powerful energy centres. In this workshop we will learn how we can use our hands to touch these energy centres and bring balance and reorganisation to the nervous system. We will practice simple self care treatments (Flows) which we can use on ourselves and others and incorporate in our Shiatsu or other healing practice.

The Self Care course is self-contained but it is also a pre-requisite for Modules One andTwo.                                                                                                                           4/5th March 2017, 10am-5pm; Aberdeen School of Shiatsu

Cost £110 or £85 for those repeating the course. Self Care handbook and handouts: £12.50; £290 for all 3 weekends

Workshop Two – Module One: Pulse, the Ordinary Meridians, and Healing Trauma The focus of this weekend is how to diagnose and heal Trauma by treating the twelve Meridians at Extraordinary Meridian level. We will learn to listen to the Pulse as a tool of diagnosis (using a simplified pulse listening system) and will be practicing the Flows of the twelve Meridians. We will practice treatments on each other.

1/2nd April 2017, 10am-5pm; Aberdeen School of Shiatsu

Yoga and Shiatsu workshop 18th September

Shiatsu & Yoga workshop

Laura Davison & Martin Julich

Sunday 18th September from 10am – 1pm;

Cost: £30

Venue: Love Yoga Studio, 42 Union Terrace, Aberdeen AB10 1TP

Here’s a thing: Whenever we stretch we not only engage muscular tissue, connective tissue and the breath, we also stretch the Acupuncture Meridians and this will be the focus of todays exploration.

We will explore stretching in all directions with the focus on the meridians and, having felt how we feel in each, we will work with some Shiatsu techniques and acupuncture points, as well as mental focus in order to release previously held tension.

Each of the meridians and its connected organs also has certain emotional and mental associations. In order to free up the emotional or mental tension we use Drishti in Yoga or Open Focus in Shiatsu and whilst this is great, being clear on how to invoke the positive aspects of each meridian and stretch is a really interesting thing to explore.

The practice will be simple and fun, no need to have done Yoga before, but if you do Yoga, it shall be interesting!!

Shiatsu Acupressure for Health Training course to start

Our next Shiatsu Acupressure for Health Training Course (Part 1) will start on 30/31st January.

For more details please have a look for the Prospectus on the website or email us any questions about the course you might have.

Personally speaking, Shiatsu Acupressure is a great way to help people with life!! I have worked with Shiatsu professionally since 1996, having started in 1989 with the training and Laura has worked with it and earning her living doing this Healing Art since the early 1980’s. We both run the Rosemount Centre for Complementary Therapies and we both offer Shiatsu at CLAN (Cancer Link Aberdeen & the North) for people affected by cancer. We love offering Shiatsu and seeing people get better, feeling touched (literally and otherwise) and empowered to look after themselves better.

Why does it work? Because of two main ingredients: an intuitive approach to feeling a persons energy combined with a deep understanding of the pattern thinking of health and disease in Chinese Medicine. That is: we are always attempting to work with both right and left brain, its an integrative practice, which makes space for all that is. That is a big statement.

We all have positive and negative traits or potential and by living consciously with these traits one transforms these traits into something else, where I am not so attached to clinging or avoiding of things and experiences.
